Abuja: The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has expressed concern over what it described as the slow response by government authorities to rescue teachers and pupils recently kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the association made this known in a statement jointly issued by its National President, Dr. Samira Jibir, and the National Secretary, Dr. Kayode Adeyemi, in Abuja. NAPPS condemned the incident as a barbaric act and declared its solidarity with the victims of the abduction.
NAPPS has urged the Federal and State Governments, security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the immediate rescue of the kidnapped teachers and pupils. The association also commended the response of its members in the Ogbomoso District of Oyo State, who have shut down their schools and intensified prayers for the safe release of the victims.
The association highlighted the actions of its members as part of ongoing engagements with government authorities and stakeholders aimed at securing the release of the abducted individuals. NAPPS has pledged to continue consultations with relevant stakeholders and pursue lawful advocacy efforts to promote the safety of schoolchildren and improve security across schools nationwide.
