Abuja: The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has attributed the recent challenges in network distribution to issues related to diesel supply affecting IHS Nigeria Limited. Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, the Head of Public Affairs at NCC, detailed this in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, IHS Nigeria Limited is a significant independent owner, operator, and developer of shared telecommunications infrastructure, including cell towers, primarily serving emerging markets across Africa. Ukoha acknowledged the Quality of Service (QoS) issues and network challenges that telecommunications subscribers in certain parts of Abuja are currently facing.
Ukoha explained that the disruptions are linked to the activities of the National Oil and Gas Suppliers Association (NOGASA), which have affected the delivery of diesel to essential telecommunications sites. The commission is actively engaging with affected service providers and other stakeholders to facilitate discussions aimed at resolving the diesel supply issues that are impacting service quality.
Ukoha assured the public of the commission’s commitment to addressing the situation efficiently. She emphasized that the commission, in collaboration with relevant government agencies and impacted operators, is implementing decisive measures to restore normal service levels swiftly. The public will be kept informed on the progress towards fully restoring telecommunication services in Abuja.
