Abuja: A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mohammed Ndarani, expressed his commitment to furthering humanitarian efforts after being awarded the traditional title of Madugun Lapai by Alhaji Umaru Bako III, the Etsu Lapai. Ndarani made this declaration during a courtesy visit by the Lapai Emirate Council to his office.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ndarani stated that the title was unexpected but incredibly gratifying, emphasizing the honor of being recognized by his community. He remarked, “There is nothing as good as being honoured in one’s community. It’s the best honour anyone could wish for.” Ndarani, known for his integrity and straightforward nature, affirmed his dedication to truth and sincerity in all his endeavors.
The grassroots politician, who has consistently worked for the benefit of his community, viewed the title as a call to further service. “This title represents much more than just a personal milestone. It is a reflection of our rich shared values of unity, service, and progress that bind us together as a people,” he said. He expressed gratitude to His Royal Majesty for the honor and acknowledged the responsibilities that accompany it.
Ndarani pledged his loyalty and commitment to fostering peace, promoting development, and upholding the traditions of his community, Niger, and Nigeria. He urged fellow citizens to collaborate in developing Lapai Emirate and the larger region of Niger.
During the ceremony, the monarch’s representative, Alhaji Yakubu Santali, emphasized the importance of community contributions to address local needs. Santali highlighted Ndarani’s integrity, leadership, and societal contributions, noting the title as a recognition of his philanthropic and developmental efforts.
Santali acknowledged Ndarani’s advocacy for traditional roles within Nigeria’s Constitution and his continuous service to the Lapai Emirate. “We considered your contribution towards the effort to provide some roles for traditional rulers in Nigeria Constitution, and indeed your unending services to the Lapai Emirate,” he stated, wishing that Ndarani’s services to the community and nation remain impactful.
