Abakaliki: The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ebonyi have arrested 157 suspects and seized a total of 134.483kg of illicit drugs in the state. The state NDLEA Commander, Mr. Jude Ahamefule, shared these details with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the arrests and seizures were conducted between October and December 2025. The apprehended individuals included 123 males and 34 females, with six of them having been convicted. The seized drugs comprise various substances such as cannabis sativa, heroin, methamphetamine, tramadol, diazepam, and other psychotropic substances.
The specific quantities identified include 106.978kg of cannabis sativa, 2,619 capsules of tramadol (100mg), 1.407kg of methamphetamine (303 pinches), 0.0589kg of diazepam (700 tablets), and 0.161kg of phenobarbitone syrup, 480ml, among others. Additionally, Mr. Ahamefule mentioned that the agency rehabilitated and discharged four clients while admitting six new ones during the same period. Currently, 12 clients are actively receiving rehabilitation treatment at the facility.
Furthermore, 44 suspects were referred to the counseling unit of the command during the period under review. Mr. Ahamefule reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking within the state.
