Minna: The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). This announcement was made in a statement issued by NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Azeez Sani.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sani revealed that a total of 186,291 candidates participated in the examination, which covered 12 subjects. Candidates hailed from all 36 states of Nigeria, the Federal Capital Territory, and five foreign countries. The examination took place from April 20 to April 30, 2026, and was concluded successfully.
The results were released following the 2026 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State. The meeting was led by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who was represented by the Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Folake Olatunji-David. It was attended by secondary school principals nationwide and members of NECO management.

ee has also approved July 22 and July 23, 2026, as the dates for the BECE resit examination in Mathematics and English Studies. The resit is intended for candidates with conditional deficiencies in these subjects. This examination offers candidates a chance to address these deficiencies and earn the necessary certification for progression into Senior Secondary School I without repeating an academic year.
