Lagos: Nestl© Nigeria Plc has unveiled a new initiative named the ‘Nestl© for Good’ campaign, focusing on advancing nutrition, supporting local communities, and promoting environmental sustainability within Nigeria. Mr. Wassim Elhusseini, Managing Director of Nestl© Nigeria Plc, emphasized during the media launch held in Lagos that the campaign integrates the company’s diverse programs aimed at enhancing the quality of life across the nation.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Elhusseini highlighted Nestl©’s longstanding presence in Nigerian households, which spans over six decades. He stressed the importance of accountability in a company that impacts millions daily, noting that societal, community, and environmental responsibilities are integral to its operations. He elaborated that the campaign exemplifies Nestl©’s Creating Shared Value principle, translating it into actionable initiatives across nutrition, community development, and environmental conservation.
Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Lead at Nestl© Nigeria Plc, remarked that the ‘Nestl© for Good’ campaign consolidates the company’s efforts to enhance lives through improved nutrition, robust communities, and environmental stewardship. Uwadoka identified three focal pillars of the campaign: nutrition, thriving communities, and environmental protection. She underscored the company’s responsibility to ensure adequate nutrition for families across Nigeria and described initiatives aimed at improving water access, enhancing educational facilities, and supporting community livelihoods.
Uwadoka further explained that environmental sustainability is a core focus of Nestl©’s operations, emphasizing the importance of protecting the planet for future generations. The campaign includes short films that showcase initiatives in youth and women empowerment, climate protection, and dairy development programs. Over the next nine months, the campaign will highlight the impacts of Nestl©’s initiatives and partnerships throughout Nigeria.
Mr. Mohammed Bala, Director of the Department of Industrial Development at the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, praised Nestl© Nigeria Plc for its initiative and contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic development. Represented by Mrs. Esther Popoola, Assistant Director of the Department, Bala stated that the campaign aligns with the Federal Government’s agenda for sustainable industrial development. He emphasized the role of the private sector in driving innovation, productivity, and job creation as part of Nigeria’s industrial transformation.
Bala acknowledged the importance of collaboration between government, the private sector, and development partners to unlock Nigeria’s industrial potential, positioning the country as a competitive manufacturing hub in Africa. He noted that Nestl©’s responsible investment practices, such as sustainable sourcing and local empowerment, align with national priorities.
Dr. Chioma Emma-Nwachukwu, Director of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN), represented by Mrs. Amaka Okwesilieze, a nutrition specialist, called for continued collaboration to strengthen nutrition across Nigeria. She encouraged the media to engage actively in nutrition education and reaffirmed NSN’s commitment to working with Nestl© Nigeria to improve nutrition and promote healthy diets nationwide.
