The IMF Annual Meetings aim to promote global macro-economic financial stability, providing policy advice, monitoring member countries’ economies, and assisting nations facing balance-of-payments issues. Discussions will focus on building a resilient world economy capable of withstanding economic shocks and promoting sustainable development.
Key activities at the meeting include analyzing the world economy, conducting bilateral consultations with member countries, and supporting nations as they navigate economic challenges. Topics such as the global economic outlook, financial stability, and poverty eradication will be discussed. The IMF is also set to release its World Economic Outlook and Global Financial Stability Report, offering analysis and projections of the global economy and assessing the global financial system.
Additionally, the meetings will address the need for reforms in the global financial architecture to support developing countries, inclusive economic growth, and the economic impacts of climate change. The IMF and the World Bank, both established in 1944 as the Bretton Woods Institutions, continue their missions of maintaining monetary stability and reducing poverty, respectively. The IMF provides loans and financial advice to countries facing balance-of-payments crises, while the World Bank focuses on sustainable development and poverty reduction efforts.
