Bauchi: The Nigerian Army has announced the creation of a Comprehensive Service Centre in Bauchi State aimed at improving the serviceability of military equipment, a move seen as crucial in the ongoing fight against insecurity in the country. Maj.-Gen. Chima A. Ekeator, Managing Director of the Centre, made this known during a facility tour of the centre.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Comprehensive Service Centre was established in 2025 in collaboration with the China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO). The centre is designed to conduct comprehensive maintenance of military equipment supplied by NORINCO, covering various levels of maintenance up to level 4. Services offered include major overhauls, replacement of major assemblies, and retrofitting, ensuring that equipment returned to the field is in optimal condition.
Maj.-Gen. Ekeator emphasized that the centre will significantly boost equipment availability for the Nigerian Army, which is critical for ongoing operations in the North-East, North-West, and other parts of the country. He also noted that the centre will provide necessary training for army personnel in equipment support activities, and is equipped to maintain up to 20 pieces of equipment simultaneously, including infantry, armoury, and artillery.
Maj.-Gen. Sunday Mokolo, Commander of the Nigeria Armour School Bauchi, expressed optimism about the sustainable partnership between the Nigerian Army and NORINCO, which he believes will enhance the supply of military equipment. An official from NORINCO also highlighted that the partnership will strengthen relations between Nigeria and China, as well as between the Nigerian Army and NORINCO.
