Abuja: Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), formally transferred the leadership of the Federal Civil Service to Mr. Abel Enitan on Thursday, urging him to sustain and deepen the ongoing reforms. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Walson-Jack expressed gratitude to civil servants and stakeholders for their support during her tenure.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Walson-Jack, who was appointed as HCSF by President Bola Tinubu with effect from August 14, 2024, handed over to Enitan, appointed as her successor effective August 27, 2026. During the ceremony, Walson-Jack acknowledged the cooperation she received and urged civil servants to extend even greater support to her successor.
Walson-Jack described her tenure as a “roller coaster” and emphasized that the administration overcame challenges through divine intervention. Expressing confidence in Enitan, she noted that he possesses a strong dedication to reforms, having worked closely with him over the years. She stressed the importance of prioritizing Nigeria’s interests and quality public service delivery over individual achievements.
In her closing remarks, Walson-Jack presented the handover notes to Enitan, highlighting that the document only contained a fraction of the accomplishments during her leadership. She expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his support throughout her term.
In response, Enitan expressed appreciation for Walson-Jack’s confidence in him, acknowledging the significant responsibility he now bears. He expressed determination to build on her achievements and strengthen ongoing reforms to make the civil service more efficient. Enitan emphasized the Federal Civil Service’s critical role in implementing transformation programs and translating government policies into tangible outcomes for Nigerians.
Enitan assured stakeholders that he would not seek to “reinvent the wheel” but instead enhance the system’s efficiency and effectiveness. He pledged to uphold the principles of efficiency, productivity, incorruptibility, and citizen-centeredness, aligning with the administration’s goals for improved service delivery.
The ceremony concluded with handover notes, prayers, and goodwill messages as Walson-Jack officially stepped down after two years in office, marking a new chapter for the Federal Civil Service under Enitan’s leadership.
