Abuja: The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) inaugurated Mr. Akinjide Orimolade as its 53rd President and Chairman of Council. Orimolade, during his investiture, committed to enhancing technology adoption, increasing insurance awareness, and initiating the construction of a permanent secretariat.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Orimolade plans to build on the achievements of his predecessor, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, through a strategic agenda focused on Technology, Enforcement, and Building (TEB). This agenda aims to position the institute for the evolving global insurance landscape by transitioning to hybrid computer-based examinations, thus allowing candidates nationwide to take exams without geographical limitations.
Orimolade revealed plans to establish an InsurTech Learning Hub for continuous professional development in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and cyber risk. He emphasized that leadership in the institute should focus on service and called for members’ collaboration to advance the future of insurance.
Furthermore, Orimolade announced the launch of the ‘insureNigeria awareness campaign’ to promote insurance in educational institutions and professional organizations. He expressed commitment to starting the construction of a permanent secretariat and organizing an Annual Secretariat Fundraising Gala to garner support from industry stakeholders.
Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, the immediate past president, encouraged the new leadership to embrace innovation while upholding the institute’s core values. She advised Orimolade to adopt advancements that could propel the profession forward while maintaining integrity, which she described as crucial for inspiring confidence and earning trust.
