Post: Nigeria’s Import and Export Indexes Show Slight Growth in Q4 2025: NBS

Abuja: The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported a 0.11% increase in Nigeria’s All-commodity group import index for the fourth quarter of 2025.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the increase in the import index is attributed to the rising import prices of materials related to paper making, paper and paperboard articles, textiles and textile articles, mineral products, and articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, and mica.

The NBS also highlighted a 0.12% increase in the All-commodity group export price index during the same period. This growth is mainly driven by the increased prices of miscellaneous manufactured articles, vehicles, aircraft and their parts, and vessels, as well as base metals and articles of base metals, plastic, rubber, and related articles.

Further, the bureau noted a 0.01% rise in the All Products Terms Of Trade (TOT) index, which measures the ratio between export prices and import prices. The All-region group export index saw an increase of 0.12%, primarily due to price changes in exports to regions excluding Oceania. The All-region group import index also rose by 0.11%, influenced by the rate of change in import prices from various regions.

The report identifies The Netherlands, India, Spain, France, and Canada as Nigeria’s major export destinations in the last quarter of 2025.
