Post: NiMet Predicts Three-Day Weather Shift with Rain and Sun Across Nigeria

Abuja: The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a mix of rainy and sunny weather conditions nationwide from Monday to Wednesday. According to the agency’s weather outlook released on Sunday, the northern region is expected to experience sunny skies on Monday morning, with chances of thunderstorms later in the day.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, NiMet anticipates moderate rains over parts of Taraba and Adamawa States. The agency also predicts isolated thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rains over parts of Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba States during the afternoon or evening hours. In the North Central Region, a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is expected in the morning, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Niger, Kogi, Kwara, and the Federal Capital Territory.

For the southern region, NiMet envisages a cloudy atmosphere in the morning with isolated thunderstorms and moderate rains over parts of Abia, Enugu, Edo, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States. Later in the day, thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected in several southern states, including Oyo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, and others.

On Tuesday, the northern region will see sunny skies in the morning, with prospects of thunderstorms in the afternoon over parts of Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba States. Meanwhile, the North Central region will have a cloudy atmosphere with sunshine intervals, with thunderstorms expected in the afternoon. The southern region is set to experience similar weather patterns, with isolated thunderstorms anticipated later in the day.

By Wednesday, sunny skies will dominate the northern region in the morning, with possible thunderstorms later. The North Central region will continue to experience cloudy weather with sunshine intervals, while the southern region is expected to see thunderstorms and moderate rains throughout the day.

NiMet advises the public to take precautions, such as securing loose objects to prevent collisions due to strong winds accompanying thunderstorms. The agency also warns against driving in heavy rain and recommends disconnecting electrical appliances. Residents are advised to avoid tall trees, stay informed through weather updates, and ensure proper hydration and ventilation to manage high temperatures. Airline operators are also urged to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective planning.
