Makurdi: The All Progressives Congress (APC) national committee responsible for overseeing the Ward and Local Government (LG) congresses in Benue has confirmed that there were no parallel congresses conducted in the state. The Chairman of the Ward/LG Congress in Benue, Mr. Usman Musa, addressed the media in Makurdi, emphasizing that the congresses were peaceful, transparent, and without any complications.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Musa clarified that the APC National Working Committee (NWC) had only authorized one committee to conduct the congresses, which was the committee he chaired. “We are the only group sent to come and conduct congresses for all local government areas for Benue,” he stated. He further explained that the committee had adhered to its mandate, distributed necessary materials, and successfully collected the results.
Mr. Musa also invited anyone seeking confirmation to verify the committee’s legitimacy through the APC’s official website. He assured that the ward and local government congresses were conducted through an elective mode, in accordance with the party’s constitution, which allows for consensus and affirmation as part of the process. The committee monitored the congresses in Makurdi, Tarka, and Gboko, expressing satisfaction with the outcomes.
The Benue APC Chairman, Mr. Benjamin Omale, praised the committee members for their integrity and professionalism. He acknowledged their commitment and dedication to the national assignment, highlighting the significance of their contributions to the successful conduct of the congresses.
