Post: NRM Candidate Calls for Financial Support for Female Politicians in 2027 Elections

Abuja:The Presidential Candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Dr. Esther Okereke, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide financial support to female candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Okereke highlighted the high cost of elections as a significant barrier for women in Nigerian politics, alongside violence and cultural obstacles. She expressed a hope that INEC would offer at least some financial assistance to female candidates, emphasizing the importance of such support in encouraging more women to participate in politics.

Dr. Okereke also stressed the need for INEC to ensure accountability and the integrity of the voting process in the 2027 elections. She praised the commission for restoring dignity to the Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) and for reinforcing citizens’ trust in the electoral process during recent off-cycle elections.

She called on all political actors, including parties, candidates, and their supporters, to adhere to the peace accord signed for the elections, promoting a peaceful and lawful election environment. Dr. Okereke advocated for freedom of campaign and movement across all regions in Nigeria, urging that candidates be permitted to campaign without intimidation or violence.

Furthermore, she advised Nigerians to vote based on competence rather than sentiment, encouraging them to consider accountability and the capability of candidates like herself, who are committed to rescuing Nigeria.
