Post: NRM Presidential Candidate Presents Blueprint to Address Nigeria’s Systemic Issues

Abuja:Dr. Esther Okereke, the National Rescue Movement (NRM) presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, has outlined her comprehensive blueprint aimed at addressing Nigeria’s systemic failures. She emphasizes her campaign is based on realistic policies rather than empty promises.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Okereke is one of only two presidential candidates for the upcoming election. She expressed that her candidacy symbolizes hope, aiming to rescue Nigeria from decades of systemic issues. She argued that the high number of presidential candidates indicates a widespread belief in the need for change, contrasting this with fewer governorship candidates in certain regions due to effective governance.

Okereke detailed her “ESTHER” agenda, a six-pillar plan to tackle various national challenges. The agenda includes initiatives on Energy, Education, Economic Renaissance, Security, Social Welfare, Technology, Transformation, Transparency, Healthcare, Housing, Enterprise, Employment, Resuscitation, Recovery, and Reorientation. She plans to generate 20,000 megawatts of power and improve educational facilities, viewing these as basic rights rather than luxuries.

Focusing on social welfare and security, Okereke aims to enhance these areas to support citizens and stimulate economic growth. Her technology policy includes creating 500,000 tech jobs annually for youth and leveraging technology to combat corruption.

Addressing housing, she proposes a N500,000 minimum wage to reflect the devaluation of the Naira, facilitating workers’ access to affordable housing. Okereke also advocates for a transportation card system to manage utility bills and reduce corruption.

Drawing parallels with Singapore’s development, she emphasized Nigeria’s potential, noting its abundant natural resources and the need to invest in human capital. Her entrepreneurship policy aims to create opportunities and jobs through technology.

The “Resuscitation, Recovery, and Reorientation” aspect of her plan involves utilizing embassies for diaspora engagement and recovering stolen wealth to fund infrastructure projects. Okereke’s diverse experiences in various sectors underpin her confidence in executing these transformative initiatives for Nigeria.
