Post: NYCN Hails Court Verdict on Sokubo-Led BoT Reinstatement

Abuja: The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has welcomed the court verdict upholding the council’s registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and reinstating its Board of Trustees (BoT). NYCN President, Amb. Sukubo Sara-igbe Sukubo, in a statement, expressed satisfaction with the ruling, emphasizing its significance in reaffirming the rule of law.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, a Federal High Court in Abuja recently ordered the CAC to restore the NYCN’s registration and reinstate Sukubo and other BoT members. The court also declared the interim management committee led by Buhari Shehu, appointed by the CAC and the Ministry of Youth Development, to be unlawful and ordered its immediate disbandment.

Justice Binta Nyako, who delivered the judgment, stated that the CAC, as a regulatory body, did not possess the authority to determine organizational leadership tenure or establish an Interim Management Committee for any registered association. The CAC had previously withdrawn the NYCN’s registration on October 6, 2025.

NYCN’s leadership, as the 2027 general election approaches, remains committed to mobilizing young people for voter education, community development, and conflict resolution.
