Abuja: Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has described the death of Chief Daniel Orbih, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice-Chairman (South South), as ‘painful’. Orbih passed away on Monday at the age of 64 and is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih, and their children, Miss Winifred Orbih and Dr Mildred Orbih.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Mr Lere Olayinka, in Abuja, expressed his personal loss, stating, ‘I lost a true friend and political associate’. The minister emphasized that Orbih was ‘a friend indeed’, likening his passing to the ‘fall of one of the biggest trees in the political forest of Edo’.
Wike further lamented, ‘I have lost a friend and a committed political ally. Daniel Orbih was everything anyone could desire in friendship and political associates. But we can’t question God. He gives and He takes.’ He extended his condolences on behalf of his family and political associates to the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih, acknowledging the significant impact Daniel Orbih had on those around him.
The minister concluded his remarks by honoring Orbih as ‘a good friend, a great politician and a man of faith in the Almighty God’, and expressed that Orbih will be missed by many. ‘May his soul rest in peace,’ Wike remarked.
