Jos: The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to instilling value re-orientation among its Corps Members throughout their Orientation Course and service year. This initiative aims to promote social change and national development, positioning NYSC as a key player in driving positive transformation.
According to Voice of Nigeria, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, Director General of NYSC, emphasized this commitment during his keynote address at the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Pre-Orientation Workshop in Jos, Plateau State. The workshop theme, ‘Value Reorientation Among the Youths: A Catalyst for National Rebirth,’ aligns with the Federal Government’s goal of ensuring youth value re-orientation for a better society.
Brigadier General Ahmed urged all camp officials to serve as mentors to the Corps Members, ensuring their morale remains high. He called on participants to actively contribute to the workshop deliberations, aiming for resolutions that effectively harness the potential of Corps Member
s for national development. State Coordinators were also reminded to continually sensitize camp officials, Corps Members, and the camp community on the importance of commitment to their assigned roles.
The NYSC Chief Executive assured that measures are in place to provide Corps Members with a memorable orientation experience. He emphasized strict adherence to guidelines necessary for the successful execution of the Orientation Course, noting that compliance monitoring would be intensified.
Earlier, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, highlighted the Scheme’s collaboration with critical stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of the upcoming 2024 Batch ‘C’ Orientation Course. Mr. Ikaka stressed the importance of the Orientation Course as the first impression for Corps Members, calling for collective efforts to make it a positive experience.
The workshop gathered participants from various organizations, including the Nigeria Army, Nigeria Police, Department of State
Services, Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, Federal Fire Service, National Health Insurance Authority, and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, among others.
