Post: Oborevwori’s Strategic Focus on Delta’s Development through Construction and Project Delivery

Abuja: Dr. Tonye Timi, Executive Director of Corporate Services at the South/South Development Commission (SSDC), has highlighted Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s efforts in refocusing Delta State through strategic project conceptualisation, construction, and delivery.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Timi expressed in an interview that Governor Oborevwori has shown determination and efficiency in implementing projects, bringing fresh ideas and energy to the table. He emphasized the governor’s bold decision to engage Julius Berger for civil works, which has resulted in notable developmental progress within the state.

Timi pointed out that Oborevwori has restored confidence with decisive actions, contrasting with previous administrations that often left projects uncompleted. He referenced abandoned initiatives like the Oghareki power project and the Warri Industrial Business Park, which had previously squandered valuable resources.

As Oborevwori looks towards re-election in 2027, Timi noted that his tenure would be subject to significant analysis, especially in the context of Delta’s changing political landscape. Timi stated that the governor has effectively managed state finances and has made unexpected infrastructural strides in just three years, defying initial skepticism about his capability to lead amidst economic challenges.

Timi also addressed the economic fears at the start of Oborevwori’s tenure, citing concerns about Delta’s debt and political instability. He commended the governor for proving critics wrong by maintaining economic stability and advancing the state’s development agenda.

Highlighting the governor’s achievements, Timi mentioned significant infrastructure projects, including the construction of four flyover bridges and advancements in education and healthcare facilities. These efforts have improved commerce and education, such as the new campus of Southern Delta University and the College of Health Technology.

Timi concluded by praising the governor’s boldness and independence, which have marked a departure from previous administrations, demonstrating a vision-driven leadership that has propelled Delta State forward.
