Ilorin: Ojaja University, located in Eiyenkonrin Ilorin, is poised to undergo significant transformations aimed at establishing it as a premier institution of learning. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jeleel Ojuade, made this announcement during the 9th Matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 Undergraduate Degree Programme.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Prof. Ojuade revealed that the university’s Chancellor, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has granted a substantial tract of land in Ile-Ife to the institution. Furthermore, the National University Commission (NUC) has approved the introduction of new academic programs, signifying a strategic expansion of the university’s educational offerings.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized the commitment from the institution’s management, governing council, and board of trustees to ensure the completion of various projects across both the Ilorin and Ile-Ife campuses. In a bid to enhance the quality of education, Ojaja University is targeting to enlist world-class trainers and incorporate online teaching methodologies, including collaborations with esteemed institutions such as Harvard University.
Security remains a priority for the university, with measures including an internal security outfit and partnerships with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Army. However, Prof. Ojuade urged the Federal Government to bolster security in universities nationwide and improve electricity supply to campuses.
Addressing the new students, the Vice Chancellor advised them to strictly adhere to the university’s regulations, warning of zero tolerance for misconduct and assuring swift disciplinary actions for any infractions.
In his address, guest speaker Prof. Olugbenga Mokuolu, from the University of Ilorin, encouraged students to focus on meaningful societal contributions and to pursue knowledge with integrity. Speaking on the theme ‘Beyond the Gown, Architecting Your Future on the Platform of University,’ he stressed the importance of character and learning in shaping their futures.
