Post: Onaiyekan Inaugurates New Catholic Women Organisation Officials in Asokoro


Abuja: Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, John Onaiyekan, has inaugurated new officials to lead the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Church of Assumption, Asokoro, for a four-year tenure in Abuja. During the inauguration ceremony, Onaiyekan charged the newly elected officials to prioritise evangelisation, charity, women’s empowerment, and spiritual development, while promoting stronger support systems for families, widows, and orphans within society.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the cleric emphasised the critical role women play in society, urging members of the organisation to remain committed to fostering spiritual growth, community development, and charitable support for vulnerable persons across communities. The newly inaugurated President of the organisation, Mrs. Chinyere Ekwe, pledged to lead with unity, humility, dedication, and love for the growth of the organisation, the Church, and the wider society.



Mrs. Ekwe encouraged members to remain steadfast in faith, committed to service, and supportive of one another as they continue to uphold the values of charity, discipline, and womanhood. She expressed confidence in achieving progress with God’s guidance and members’ cooperation, assuring them of purposeful leadership and commitment to advancing the organisation’s activities and objectives.



The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ekwe succeeded Mrs. Amaka Ezeugo as president of the Catholic Women Organisation, Church of Assumption, Asokoro, following the completion of her leadership tenure. Other officials inaugurated included Mrs. Regina Ogbeh as Vice President, Mrs. Chidiebere Ibeleche as Secretary, Mrs. Blessing Bello as Assistant Secretary, and Mrs. Ebere Nwokolo as Financial Secretary.



Also inaugurated were Mrs. Magret Onyeachonam as Treasurer, Mrs. Monica Abiemwense Moru as PRO I, Mrs. Ogechi Njoku as PRO II, Mrs. Kambili Ajogbor as Provost One, and Mrs. Tessy Eyaja as Provost Two.
