Abuja: Child Aid Sponsorship Awareness Foundation (CASAF) has donated school bags and education materials to pupils of LEA Primary School, Lugbe, Abuja, to boost learning. The foundation embarked on the initiative, as part of activities marking its 14th anniversary celebration.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, during the donation, founder of CASAF, Mrs. Zainab Kazeem, stated that the milestone reflected 14 years of work and touching lives since the NGO’s inception in 2011. The founder, represented by a staff member, Peace Daful, explained that CASAF was established with a vision to aid less-privileged children, particularly in education, health, and economic empowerment, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Over the past 14 years, the organisation has engaged in interventions including outreaches to orphanage homes, restructuring of IDP camps, and free medical outreaches to displaced persons and community schools. The vision is to create an environment where underprivileged children have access to basic amenities. The foundation reiterated its mission to advocate for the rights of underprivileged children, expand sponsorship opportunities, and provide amenities that help young learners reach their potential.
CASAF’s admin officer, Esther Okudike, explained that the back-to-school outreach supports children in under-served communities struggling with basic learning materials. Many children lack school bags and writing materials, affecting their learning. The support aims to encourage parents to take more interest in their children’s education.
Responding to the donation, the school’s Assistant Teacher, Mrs. Bukola Odetoyinbo, thanked the foundation for aiding the pupils at a crucial time. Odetoyinbo highlighted infrastructural challenges, including lack of functional toilets and a dilapidated fence, and appealed for further support.
