Osogbo: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the August 15 governorship election in Osun, Mr. Najeem Salaam, has pledged to boost industrial development through improved energy generation and a 24-hour electricity supply if elected. Salaam made the promise on Monday in Osogbo during the unveiling of his manifesto.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the former Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly noted that the state is endowed with fertile land, vibrant communities, hardworking citizens, rich cultural heritage, and vast economic potential. He said his administration would pursue an ambitious but achievable power agenda. “We believe that 24-hour power supply is possible through strategic investments, alternative energy solutions, and effective public-private partnerships,” Salaam stated.
Salaam emphasized that reliable power infrastructure would stimulate industrial growth, attract investors, and create thousands of jobs across the state. “When there is power, industries emerge, jobs are cr
eated, and families prosper. When families prosper, communities flourish. This is the future we envision for Osun,” he added.
His development agenda also reflects a commitment to workers’ welfare, agricultural transformation, quality education, and accessible healthcare. Salaam highlighted plans to position Osun as a regional food hub through the establishment of farm estates across the three senatorial districts.
Further promises from the ADC candidate included the prompt payment of salaries and pensions, a review of the low-cost housing scheme and loan system for civil servants, enhanced security and territorial protection, reintroduction of the school feeding program, promotion of youth engagement, and improvement of the healthcare system.
Salaam described his manifesto as more than a collection of promises, but as a contract with the people of Osun, founded on integrity, driven by compassion, and guided by a clear vision of prosperity.
