Osogbo: The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADS) in Osun has declared its support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, assuring him of victory in the upcoming Aug. 15 election. The announcement was made during a special meeting and prayer session held in honor of the APC candidate in Osogbo.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Islamic society’s decision is based on Oyebamiji’s Islamic credentials, virtues, and track records as a true Muslim and a bonafide member of the Ansar-Ud-Deen. Alhaji Akande Hafiz, the Secretary of the group, stated that Oyebamiji is seen as a genuine member whose aspirations align with the society’s values.
Hafiz emphasized that the meeting was organized to engage with Oyebamiji and express their comprehensive support. He pointed out that Oyebamiji was nurtured within the Ansar-Ud-Deen community in Ikire and that his candidacy represents a historic milestone for the society in the state.
As part of the society’s tradition, Hafiz highlighted that while the society remains non-partisan, it supports members who show interest in governance. He underscored the notion that authority is a divine trust and the society is committed to praying for Oyebamiji’s success and divine guidance.
Musedik Adeniji, the National President of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, also expressed the society’s backing for Oyebamiji, acknowledging his contributions to the society’s growth. In response, Oyebamiji called on the electorate to support him by voting in large numbers and advised against selling their Permanent Voter’s Cards.
Oyebamiji promised to deliver an inclusive and participatory government if elected. He also called for continued prayers from religious leaders for a peaceful election and emphasized the need for a transformative agenda that prioritizes security, welfare, and various sectors including education and health.
Accompanied by his wife, Alhaja Sekinah, Oyebamiji urged the society to entrust the electoral process to divine guidance and reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability in governance. He pledged to bring significant changes to various sectors and sought ongoing support from the society and its members.
