Bama: Big. Gen. Tosin Ayoola, the Commander of the 21 Special Armour Brigade in Bama, announced on Thursday that more than 2,000 communities have been resettled in the Bama council area. The commander shared this update during a field visit by journalists aimed at assessing the security and humanitarian situation within the Bama Local Government Area of Borno.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ayoola emphasized that this resettlement marks a significant milestone in the ongoing stabilization efforts across the North-East. He noted that areas previously under insurgent control are gradually returning to normalcy, with displaced residents moving back to their ancestral homes. The resettlement process, he explained, was facilitated through coordinated operations, which included the clearance of terrorist enclaves, sustained patrols, and community engagement initiatives aimed at restoring confidence among the population.
Ayoola highlighted that the return of peace has enabled families to resettle, cultivate
farmlands, and resume social and economic activities. He assured that troops are maintaining a strong presence across major routes and vulnerable settlements to prevent any resurgence of insecurity. Additionally, the military is supporting humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in liberated communities.
The commander also mentioned that the military, in collaboration with stakeholders, has been facilitating the phased relocation of displaced persons from camps back to their original communities, ensuring that basic security conditions are sustained. He affirmed that Operation Hadin Kai would continue to build on the progress made, with ongoing clearance operations and stabilization efforts being crucial to maintaining long-term peace and preventing the return of insurgent elements.
Ayoola commended the resilience of returning residents and urged them to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information to support ongoing operations and safeguard the fragile peace in the region.
