Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle in the Federal Executive Council (FEC). A statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, indicated that two ministers would be exiting the cabinet.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the statement was signed by Mr. Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the SGF. It detailed that Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, is to hand over his responsibilities to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, who has been elevated from his former role as Minister of State in the ministry.
The SGF also announced Mr. Muttaqha Darma as the ministerial nominee and Minister-designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. The erstwhile minister, Ahmed Dangiwa, has been instructed to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry.
Akume emphasized that all handing-over procedures should be finalized by the close of business on Thursday. He explained that the reshuffle aims to strengthen cohesion and synergy in governance, enhancing impactful economic delivery to Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The president exercised his powers in accordance with Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). The SGF conveyed the president’s appreciation for the outgoing ministers’ services and conveyed his well wishes for their future endeavors. Akume also noted that President Tinubu assured cabinet members that the process of reinvigoration would be ongoing.
