Abuja: The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has announced its collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and other relevant agencies to enhance the Federal Government’s Safe School Programme. This initiative was disclosed by the National Chairman of PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan, during a courtesy visit by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Olaniyan stated that the PCRC aims to facilitate the NPF’s efforts by installing Close Circuit Televisions (CCTV) in select schools, beginning with those situated in suburban areas. He emphasized the committee’s commitment to working alongside the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu, and other security entities to bolster the Safe School Project. Additionally, Olaniyan revealed that the PCRC has pledged 10,000 volunteers to be stationed at schools nationwide upon reopening. Engagements with Parent Teachers Associations (PTAs) and community leaders are also underway to support the initiative.
Olaniyan also mentioned that the PCRC is progressing on its national secretariat building project, expected to be completed by December. The building will honor the current Inspector-General, Olatunji Disu, upon completion.
During the visit, CSP Anietie Iniedu praised the PCRC leadership for their efforts and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the Force Public Relations Officer, a role entrusted to him by the Inspector-General. Iniedu highlighted the Inspector-General’s dedication to the PCRC’s mission and urged the committee’s leadership to persist in supporting the Nigerian police.
Iniedu further commended the PCRC’s commitment to equipping Police Public Relations Officers nationwide, noting the timely nature of this support during his tenure.
