Post: Progressives Forum Reschedules APC Governance Summit to January 2026

Abuja: The organising committee of the ‘Summit of the Progressives’ has announced a new date for its event commemorating 10 years of All Progressives Congress (APC) governance at the national level. Initially slated for December 8, the summit will now take place on January 27, 2026.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Bashir Ahmad, the Chairman of the Brand and Media Committee, revealed the rescheduling in a statement. Ahmad cited ‘prevailing circumstances’ as the reason for the change, emphasizing that the new date would allow for a more fitting and inclusive gathering of leaders, stakeholders, and members of the broader progressive family.

The landmark national event is being organized by the Progressives Forum in collaboration with The Bola Tinubu Legacy Conference, The Progressives Rights Group, and The Buhari New Media Centre. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, one of the original co-founders and leaders of the APC, is expected to attend as the Special Guest of Honour. This underscores the significance of the occasion in Nigeria’s democratic evolution.

Ahmed highlighted that the summit will serve as a reflective and forward-looking platform. It aims to conduct a comprehensive review of the milestones, achievements, reforms, and developmental strides recorded since the APC assumed national leadership in 2015. Additionally, the summit will articulate a renewed progressive vision for the future.

The event will feature keynote addresses on the evolution and impacts of progressive governance across major sectors. Highlights will include sectoral panel discussions on economic transformation, national security, social investment, energy transition, infrastructural development, governance reforms, and political renewal.

Fireside chats with notable leaders within Nigeria’s progressive fold will be part of the programme, spotlighting leadership journeys, defining decisions, policy philosophies, and pivotal reflections that have shaped the movement. Legacy documentary presentations will capture APC’s rise, its signature policy interventions, and landmark governance moments since 2015.

Strategic future-casting sessions will project an innovative roadmap for the next decade of progressive leadership, focusing on inclusion, national renewal, and sustainable development. A tribute segment will honor the memory and contributions of the late President Muhammadu Buhari and other departed leaders who played foundational roles in the progressive movement.
