Abuja: A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Sam Onuigbo, has expressed confidence that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu is generating positive outcomes that position the party favorably for the 2027 general elections. Onuigbo, who previously served as a member of the House of Representatives, shared his insights during an interview with News Agency of Nigeria.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Onuigbo emphasized that several economic and social reforms, notably the removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange rate, have set Nigeria on a promising trajectory. He noted that the elimination of the fuel subsidy has significantly bolstered the financial resources of state governments, allowing them to undertake more projects.
Onuigbo remarked, “Today, the governors are having so much money, which is the fallout of the removal of fuel subsidy. That is helping those who truly want to work in their states to execute numerous projects.” He highlighte
d that prior to President Tinubu’s administration, governors frequently sought bailouts to cover salaries, a situation that has since improved.
Onuigbo attributed the positive developments to President Tinubu’s bold decisions, stating, “We give credit to the president for being courageous in taking that decision.” He also underscored the successful implementation of the student loan scheme and the unification of the exchange rate as significant achievements of the current administration.
The chieftain elaborated on the benefits of foreign exchange reforms, noting that they have introduced a level of predictability for investors, which was lacking during times of fluctuating rates. He also mentioned advancements in infrastructural projects and improvements within the Ministry of Interior, particularly in the ease of obtaining passports, as indicative of progress under the current government.
