Lagos: Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has announced that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is paving the way for world-class healthcare in the country, with six state-of-the-art treatment centres planned nationwide, three of which are already operational. Idris made this statement while leading a delegation to inspect the newly established Oncology Centre in Enugu.
According to Voice of Nigeria, Idris highlighted the Oncology Centre as a testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to delivering transformative health infrastructure to Nigerians. During the visit, the delegation interacted with patients, including a woman who previously traveled long distances for treatment but can now access high-quality services locally in Enugu. Idris emphasized that this development signifies democracy providing tangible benefits by allowing citizens direct access to essential healthcare services.
Idris further underscored the significant impact of the President’s policies, stating that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has revolutionized the health sector, enabling cancer treatments to be conducted within Nigeria. He mentioned that the six treatment facilities across the country’s zones are equipped with advanced machines comparable to those found globally, with trained experts available to operate them. Idris stressed that seeking treatment abroad is now a matter of choice rather than necessity due to the availability of local facilities and expertise.
In addition to healthcare advancements, the Minister addressed the economic vision of the President, reassuring Nigerians that Tinubu’s goal of a one trillion-dollar economy is attainable. He praised Tinubu’s leadership as both courageous and passionate about national and human development, citing visible progress despite initial skepticism regarding his reforms. Idris noted that the removal of fuel subsidies has resulted in increased funds for state governments, enabling them to deliver democratic dividends and undertake significant capital projects.
Idris also highlighted improvements in national security due to enhanced coordination among security agencies under President Tinubu’s leadership. He commended the Governor of Enugu State for continuing and building upon the policies and programmes of his predecessor, further contributing to the state’s progress.
