Abuja: Chief Emeka Obegolu, the President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), announced that the Prince Adetokunbo Kayode SAN Trade and Convention Centre generated N147.3 million in revenue in 2025. This announcement was made during the chamber’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Obegolu stated that the revenue was achieved after the centre hosted over 20 major events, following its transformation into a world-class facility. This transformation has positioned the centre as a hub for conferences, exhibitions, and social events, enhancing its commercial viability and supporting the sustainability efforts of the chamber. The renovation, completed under successive administrations, has made the centre a key revenue driver and has boosted Abuja’s profile as a business tourism destination.
Obegolu highlighted that the income from the convention centre complements other projects such as training, office and commercial developments, which aim to strengthen member services and reduce reliance on external funding. He reiterated the chamber’s commitment to transparent facility management and noted the expanded utilisation of the convention centre as evidence of the tangible returns from infrastructure-focused leadership and disciplined reforms.
At the 2025 AGM, the ACCI President expressed appreciation to members for renewing their commitment to strengthening businesses in the Federal Capital Territory and Nigeria through collective action. He outlined the chamber’s vision, which focuses on infrastructure renewal, trade facilitation, capacity building, professionalisation of the secretariat, global partnerships, and brand repositioning. Significant progress has been made in these priority areas.
Obegolu also mentioned the progress on the Ultramodern Shopping Complex, which is expected to expand business activities and create a vibrant commercial ecosystem around the chamber. Additionally, work on the ACCI office complex has advanced to the third floor, promising improved operations and hosting capabilities.
The ACCI has organized major fairs, expos, and conferences, including the Abuja International Trade Fair and the FARMFATECH Expo, among others. Staff welfare has been prioritized through targeted salary adjustments for lower-paid employees, and membership has grown with 113 new members, reflecting the increasing relevance of the chamber’s services.
Obegolu expressed gratitude to members, partners, and secretariat staff, reaffirming the commitment to excellence, transparency, and impact. He pledged ongoing efforts to enhance ACCI’s contribution to economic growth and competitiveness.
Dr. Kingsley Udeh, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, encouraged members to persist in their efforts to achieve the chamber’s goals, emphasizing that their commitment would drive economic growth. He assured that his agency would maintain a strong partnership with the chamber.
