Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has announced that the implementation of road infrastructure across the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is establishing the area as an emerging food-producing hub. Tinubu, represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, made this declaration during the inauguration of the newly constructed Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji Road by the FCT Administration.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Tinubu emphasized that the new road corridor enhances the efficiency of moving agricultural produce, reduces delays for buyers, and significantly cuts down post-harvest losses. The president highlighted that Kwali is now positioned to thrive as a food-producing hub for the FCT and beyond.
Tinubu stated that such infrastructure projects enable families to build and maintain their lives at home, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda’s mission to extend development to all Nigerians, not just those in city centers. He underscored the importance of connecting Gomani, Dafa, and Yangoji to essential services and opportunities, reinforcing the idea that the nation’s wealth should be accessible to everyone.
President Tinubu noted the historical challenges faced by rural communities due to inadequate road access, which often led to crop wastage and youth migration. He praised the transformation brought about by the new infrastructure, which he credited to the leadership of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Tinubu commended Wike for his dedication to balancing urban and rural development.
Wike, in his remarks, detailed that the road projects were initiated following a community engagement led by Etsu Kwali, Luka Nizassan III, to pinpoint areas needing government attention. This engagement was part of Tinubu’s directive to incorporate community input in project planning.
Wike recalled the community discussions where traditional leaders identified critical road connections, now successfully completed, totaling about 43 kilometers. He reiterated Tinubu’s directive to extend development beyond the city center, noting that this was the fourth project inaugurated in satellite towns since June 9.
Earlier, Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, explained that the road project was awarded in November 2025. The Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji Road is part of a 43.4-kilometer secondary regional road, connecting to the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway at two different points, with the first segment completed in June 2025. The inauguration marked the completion of the 13-kilometer third segment, linking Gomani to Dafa and Yangoji.
