Abuja: The Rotary Club of Abuja Delight FCT has pledged to create a lasting impact in the Gita community, Bwari Area Council, through humanitarian and community development projects. The District President, Justina Ndubisi, made this pledge at the installation and fundraising event on Monday in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ndubisi recounted how divine timing and persistence led her back to the club convener, Lovina Okorn-Ntui, after initial hurdles. She noted that the mentorship she received from the Rotary Club of Abuja Kubwa was instrumental in her joining the club. Ndubisi said the club adopted the Gita community and had already implemented about five projects in the area. Her one-year tenure will focus on laying a strong foundation for the club and implementing projects with lasting benefits for residents.
Ndubisi outlined a strategic agenda centered around four core priorities that aim to foster measurable, long-term change. These priorities include community development focused on Gita village, health and education partnerships with Silver Cross Hospitals, fostering fellowship and growth within the club, and youth empowerment programs. She urged members to serve with commitment and humanity.
Ndubisi explained that her motivation for joining Rotary was her passion for humanitarian services. She highlighted the leadership and interpersonal skills she gained through her involvement with Rotary. District Gov., District 9127, Sikiru Owonikoko, also expressed delight over the establishment of the new club and emphasized the importance of increasing membership to extend services to more communities.
Mr. Christian Uchendu, Assistant Governor of the Rotary Club of Abuja Municipal, encouraged the new club members to build friendships and networks while contributing to societal development. He highlighted Rotary’s global membership of about 1.4 million, describing it as a platform for friendship, networking, and humanitarian service.
Planning Committee Chairperson, Onyinyechi Ogbueze, noted that the event served the dual purpose of leadership transition and capital accumulation. She emphasized that the event was not only to usher in the new president but also to raise funds for upcoming projects that align with Rotaract’s mission of service and impact in society.
