Abuja: The Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Mr. Saheed Oladele, has expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure victory in the 2027 elections. Oladele, in an interview, emphasized that the SDP enjoys substantial followership, which positions it to win both the governorship and other political positions in the state.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Oladele assured that electing SDP candidates would lead to positive changes in Nigeria. He highlighted the current challenges in the state, including hardship, as motivating factors for his candidacy. Oladele promised to prioritize improvements in education, healthcare, and employment if voted into power.
Oladele reflected on his political journey, stating that his departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the SDP surprised many, yet his followers remained loyal. He expressed confidence in the strength of the SDP in Oyo State, asserting that the party is well-positioned to produce the next governor.
He urged the electorate to financially support candidates for political office, suggesting that this support would play a crucial role in electing credible leaders. Oladele criticized the expectation of financial inducement from politicians and encouraged voters to contribute to candidates they believe in. This, he argued, would ensure that elected officials are accountable to the people rather than influenced by financial manipulation or corruption.
