Abuja: Sen. Ita Enang, a former lawmaker representing Akwa Ibom North-East, has expressed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his recent appointment as a Non-Career Ambassador/High Commissioner Designate. Enang conveyed his gratitude while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, pledging his commitment to serving the nation meritoriously.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Enang’s nomination was part of a list comprising 31 Non-Career Ambassadors/High Commissioner Designates submitted to the Senate by President Tinubu for confirmation. Among the other nominees are Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim from Ondo, Sen. Folasade Bent from Adamawa, and Segun Ige from Edo.
During the announcement, Enang stated, “In the interest of Nigeria and the diplomatic community, I express my gratitude to Mr. President. I thank the President for the nomination and I pledge to deliver my utmost best in the name of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the leadership of President Tinubu. I am grateful for the nomination and I will go through all the processes.”
Enang, a legal expert, has had a long career in politics, starting in 1987 when he became a councilor. He joined the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in 1992 and was elected to the House of Representatives in 1999, serving three terms. In April 2011, Enang successfully contested for the Senate seat of Uyo (North-East).
