Cape Town: South Africa and the United Kingdom have taken significant steps to enhance their bilateral relationship through newly signed agreements. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy and his South African counterpart, Ronald Lamola, met in Cape Town to discuss and formalize these agreements, which focus on improving trade and defense cooperation between the two nations.
According to Voice of Nigeria, the discussions between Lammy and Lamola also touched upon the topic of African representation at the United Nations. Lammy emphasized the UK’s longstanding support for Africa’s inclusion on the U.N. Security Council. He expressed a desire to gauge whether this position aligns with the views of other Security Council members, particularly Russia and China.
Ronald Lamola, representing South Africa, highlighted the UK’s importance as a partner. In his opening remarks, Lamola acknowledged the “close bonds of friendship” shared by the two countries and their people. However, he noted that there is potential for grow
