Post: Tinubu Celebrates Nigeria’s 4.43% GDP Growth in Q2 2026

Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has welcomed Nigeria’s 4.43 percent economic growth in the second quarter of 2026, highlighting the impact of ongoing reforms. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported on Monday that GDP increased by 4.43 percent, compared to 4.23 percent in Q2 2025.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the growth was observed across sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, oil and gas, and services, which remained the largest contributor to aggregate GDP. This information was detailed in a statement released by the President’s spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, in Abuja.

In nominal terms, Nigeria’s aggregate GDP rose to N119.27 trillion in Q2 2026, marking an 18.43 percent increase from N100.7 trillion. President Tinubu noted that the figures came at a crucial time, amidst opposition claims that his administration’s economic policies had worsened living conditions.

President Tinubu stated that over the past three years, efforts were made to stabilize the economy through necessary reforms. He emphasized that these reforms were aimed at establishing sustainable prosperity, rather than imposing hardship on Nigerians.

The President highlighted the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which has produced measurable economic results. He pointed to Nigeria’s trade surpluses, stronger foreign reserves, improved credit ratings, and increased infrastructure development as evidence of economic recovery.

President Tinubu also cited the return of investors and rising oil and gas production as further signs of improving confidence in Nigeria’s economy. Additionally, reforms in education and access to credit were noted as creating opportunities and strengthening social and economic inclusion.

Acknowledging ongoing hardships among vulnerable Nigerians, President Tinubu assured that his administration would intensify measures to alleviate economic difficulties. He mentioned government plans to ramp up food production and implement relief programs targeting vulnerable populations.

The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to sustaining growth while improving citizens’ welfare and living standards, emphasizing the importance of translating stronger macroeconomic performance into tangible improvements in daily lives.
