Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has tasked the newly appointed acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, with the crucial responsibility of restoring peace and enhancing security across Nigeria. The directive was issued during Disu’s swearing-in and decoration ceremony held at the State House in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, President Tinubu expressed confidence in Disu’s capability by referencing his previous accomplishments in Lagos when Tinubu served as governor. The president emphasized the significance of Disu’s appointment during a pivotal moment for national security. He urged the acting Inspector-General to reinforce discipline, foster inter-agency collaboration, and restore public confidence in the police force, all while maintaining safety as the highest priority.
Tinubu highlighted the pressing challenges facing Nigeria, including banditry and terrorism, and encouraged Disu to be part of the innovative solutions required to overcome these issues. The president also paid tribute to the outgoing Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, acknowledging his contributions to maintaining law and order.
