Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has announced major investments in road infrastructure to facilitate access to homes, offices, and pave the way for a brighter future throughout the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Tinubu, represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, made this statement while inaugurating a newly constructed 10.5-kilometre road network in Karsana District, Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the road project includes Arterial Roads N11, N16, and N40, as well as Special Important Local Street 03, effectively linking the Renewed Hope City and Estates in Karsana West to other parts of Abuja. These roads connect Karsana West to the Outer Northern Expressway, also known as the Murtala Mohammed Expressway, thereby improving access to thousands of affordable housing units.
President Tinubu emphasized that the new infrastructure signifies tangible progress towards the Renewed Hope Agenda. “By linking Karsana West to the Outer Northern Expressway, also known as the Murtala Mohammed Expressway, we have made thousands of affordable housing units accessible, livable, and safe,” he stated. He highlighted the reduced traffic time, lower vehicle costs, and safer night movements as key benefits, reflecting the administration’s commitment to practical solutions.
Tinubu reiterated that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not merely a slogan but a strategic approach to identifying challenges, funding solutions, supervising projects, and ensuring their completion. “This method is turning Abuja into a city where infrastructure keeps pace with ambition,” he added.
The president also lauded the efforts of Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for facilitating access to residential areas that were previously difficult to reach. Wike noted the absence of access roads when the 3,112-unit Renewed Hope City was inaugurated, which made movement challenging for residents. He acknowledged the president’s support in making the road construction a reality.
Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, Minister of State for FCT, described the newly inaugurated roads as critical infrastructure that will promote economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents. She stated that the project underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to creating a modern, accessible, and inclusive capital city.
In addition, Mr. Richard Dauda, Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, provided insights into the project’s timeline and scope. He mentioned that the project was awarded in February 2025 and highlighted the significance of Arterial Road N40 as a key transverse route in Phase Four of the Federal Capital City, enhancing connectivity across the region.
