Abuja: President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday forwarded a letter seeking the approval of the Senate for the appointment of Mr. Mainasara Illo as Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Centre (NADC). Tinubu’s request is contained in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and was read at plenary on Tuesday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the president stated that the request was made in accordance with section 15 of the 2025 Nigerian Anti-Doping Act. The letter expressed Tinubu’s intention to have Mr. Mainasara Illo confirmed for an initial term of four years as the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the NADC.
Senate President Akpabio, after reading the request, referred it to the Senate Committees on Narcotics and Sports for further legislative inputs. The committees are expected to revert to plenary with their findings and recommendations ‘as soon as practicable’.
