Abuja: The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has announced that President Bola Tinubu is more determined than ever to tackle the current challenges facing Nigeria. Idris made this statement at a reception and fundraising dinner in Abuja, organized in honor of Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of Customs, who has recently been elected as Chairman of the World Customs Organisation.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the event, hosted by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), also served as a fundraising occasion for the Institute’s National Secretariat in Abuja. Idris praised Adeniyi as a hardworking and diligent individual who is representing Nigeria positively on the global stage. He acknowledged that Nigeria is undergoing tough times but emphasized the importance of unity and finding solutions internally rather than seeking external intervention.
Idris assured attendees that President Tinubu has directed security agencies to ensure the safe return of kidnapped school children and noted that there are positive developments in the economy, such as decreasing food prices. He also highlighted efforts by Nigeria’s delegation to the U.S. to accurately portray the country’s situation.
Dr. Ike Neliaku, President of NIPR, congratulated Adeniyi on his new role, emphasizing the significance of his election in bolstering Nigeria’s reputation. Former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, urged Adeniyi to continue his commendable work while expressing concern over abductions in the country, advocating for wisdom in handling these issues.
Sen. Osita Izunaso, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Capital Market, commended the Customs department under Adeniyi for surpassing its targets and appreciated the efforts of Idris and Neliaku for their contributions to NIPR.
In response, Adeniyi expressed gratitude and pledged to continue enhancing Nigeria’s image. He urged individuals across different sectors to participate in building and protecting the nation’s reputation, stressing the importance of collective effort in defending the country.
