Post: Transparent Public Procurement Key Component of Governance, Says KWPPA General Manager


Ilorin: Malam Raheem Abdulbaki, General Manager of the Kwara Public Procurement Agency (KWPPA), has emphasized the importance of public procurement as a fundamental aspect of governance and administration that demands accountability, transparency, and value for expenses. Abdulbaki made these remarks during a one-day training session for management and staff members of the Kwara State University of Education (KWASUED) on various aspects of public procurement processes, rules, regulations, and procedures.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Abdulbaki stated that the training was specifically designed to enhance participants’ understanding of critical areas such as procurement planning, budgeting, tendering procedures, bid evaluation, contract management, and compliance with state public procurement law and guidelines. He urged officers involved in procurement-related activities to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.



The general manager praised the university’s management for providing a platform aimed at strengthening procurement knowledge and promoting best practices within the institution. He stressed that continuous capacity building is essential for effective service delivery and institutional growth.



In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of KWASUED, Prof. Medinat Salman, lauded the KWPPA for its unwavering support and collaboration with the university. Salman expressed optimism that the training would further enhance compliance with procurement procedures and encourage adherence to best practices within the institution.



The News Agency of Nigeria also reported that the training included presentations on public procurement law and guidelines, procurement planning and budgeting, as well as processes for goods, works, and services, along with post-contract administration and implementation.
