Ankara: Turkish President Recep Erdogan has declared that Trkiye is taking proactive measures beyond its borders to ensure its security by neutralising threats at their source without seeking external permission.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Erdogan emphasized these points during an iftar programme with families of martyrs at Cankaya Mansion in Ankara. He highlighted the significant progress in efforts to achieve a ‘terror-free Trkiye,’ stating that the country undertakes necessary actions both within and outside its borders to address security threats effectively.
Erdogan noted a considerable decrease in security risks, both domestically and internationally, since the inception of the ‘terror-free Trkiye’ initiative 16 months ago. He expressed determination to permanently eliminate terrorism, which has afflicted the nation for nearly half a century, and acknowledged the pivotal role of the armed forces and other security units in restricting the mobility of terrorist organizations.
The Turkish President also highlighted advancements in the defense industry, with a shift from an 80 percent reliance on foreign sources to achieving a domestic production rate of around 80 percent. Trkiye now meets nearly all its defense needs, including unmanned aerial vehicles, missiles, and tanks, with plans to advance further into fighter jets and aircraft carriers.
Erdogan concluded by noting positive developments in neighboring Syria, reflecting Trkiye’s broader regional security strategies.
