Pulka: Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully thwarted an attack by suspected ISWAP terrorists on a military base located in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno. Capt. Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, made this known in a statement.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the attack occurred on September 7, with troops steadfastly maintaining their positions and preventing the attackers from seizing control of the military location. The terrorists eventually retreated, suffering casualties due to the sustained resistance they encountered from the military.
The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI played a crucial role by providing timely Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance support during the confrontation. The air unit executed precision strikes on the retreating hostile elements, disrupting their withdrawal and undermining their attempts to regroup.
Local support was also instrumental as the Civilian Joint Task Force offered valuable information that enhanced the troops’ situational awareness during the operation. Unfortunately, one soldier sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm but was quickly evacuated for medical treatment. The soldier’s condition is stable as he responds to treatment.
Following the terrorists’ retreat, troops launched exploitation operations to evaluate the inflicted damage, recover any abandoned weapons and equipment, and gather further intelligence. The military remains on high alert in Pulka, conducting aggressive patrols and maintaining both offensive and defensive operations.
Capt. Goni urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies. He reiterated the military’s determination to eradicate terrorism and safeguard lives and property in the North-East.
