Post: Turaki-Led PDP Inaugurates New Executive Committees in Lagos

Lagos: The Dr. Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) inaugurated newly elected State, Local Government Area, and Ward Executive Committees of the party faction in Lagos State. The event, which took place at the PDP Secretariat on Ajao Road, Ikeja, was attended by national officials, the South West Zonal Executive Committee, leaders, elders, and party members.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Solarin, the National Deputy Organising Secretary, who represented the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Turaki, congratulated the new party managers and emphasized the task of rebuilding and strengthening the party structure. He described the gathering as inspiring and noted the presence of notable PDP leaders as evidence that the party remains vibrant.

Solarin urged commitment among the new executives and loyal party members, assuring them that the party’s future is promising. He criticized those who, after benefiting from the PDP, are now opposing it, and
reaffirmed the party’s resilience against attempts to undermine its fortune.

Chief Olabode George, a former PDP Deputy National Chairman and Lagos State Apex PDP Leader, emphasized that the PDP remains the only true national party. He highlighted the success of recent ward council and state congresses and conventions, describing the party’s current state as a rebirth and restoration of confidence. George also criticized the defections of PDP governors to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging coercion and threats.

George cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against election rigging, asserting that opposition parties will resist any such attempts. He encouraged PDP members to remain steadfast, assuring them that the challenges the party faces are temporary and emphasizing the party’s nationwide strength and potential for the future.

Former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, and a former PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) member, echoed George’s sentimen
ts, urging party loyalists to remain strong. Mr. Phillip Aivoji, the outgoing Lagos State PDP Chairman, commended party leaders and called for collective efforts to build the party.

Dr. Amos Fawole, the newly inaugurated State Chairman, expressed commitment to the party’s ideals and values and promised purposeful leadership aimed at strengthening the party in Lagos State and beyond. Fawole emphasized the goal of making Lagos State winnable for the PDP through collective efforts.
