Agona swedru: Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has emphasized the importance of unity among party supporters as a crucial factor in retaining governmental power. Speaking to party members in Agona West and East during his ‘thank you’ tour, Mr. Nketia stressed the need for collective efforts to strengthen grassroots support, ensuring continued good governance for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Asiedu Nketia was joined by key figures such as Mr. Ekow Okyere Panyin Aduamoah, the Central Regional Minister, and Mr. Richard Asiedu, the Central Regional Chairman of the party, among other officials. The tour in the Central region was part of a campaign promise made to various stakeholders during the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia urged supporters not to take electoral victories for granted, particularly highlighting the significance of the recent success in Agona West. He cautioned that the opposition was actively re-strategizing for the 2028 elections. Highlighting the achievements under President Mahama, he noted the fulfillment of a campaign promise to reduce the number of ministers to 60, contrasting this with the previous administration’s 125 ministers.
Expressing gratitude to community leaders and supporters, Mr. Nketia pledged infrastructure improvements, including road construction in the Agona Swedru area, to enhance the movement of goods and services. Mr. Eric Gyamfi Odoom, Agona West Municipal Chief Executive, noted the positive impacts of President Mahama’s reset agenda on local education, health, and infrastructure, citing a significant allocation of 10 million Ghana cedis from the District Assembly Common Fund.
Nana Kweku Esieni V, the Regent of Agona Swedru, appealed for assistance in improving key district roads to boost local transportation and economic activities.
