London: Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo has been honoured with the prestigious African Inspirational Leadership and Good Governance Award for his visionary public service and transformational leadership.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, a statement by Mr. Tosin Olayinka, Programme Director, Renewed Hope Global, highlighted that Uzodimma was honoured on Friday at an event held at the House of Lords in London. The event, organized by the African Leadership Organisation (ALO), was chaired by former Tanzanian President, Jakaya Kikwete. Representing Uzodimma, who is the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), was Mr. Declan Emelumba, Imo Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy.
Olayinka emphasized that the international recognition was meant to celebrate the governor’s transformational leadership and commitment to good governance. The award seeks to honour leaders whose policies have delivered measurable progress while also strengthening democratic governance and public institutions. The selection of Uzodimma, who also serves as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), underscores the impact of his agenda focused on reconstruction, rehabilitation, and recovery.
Olayinka noted that Uzodimma’s administration has reshaped Imo through sustained investment in critical infrastructure and reforms, expanding opportunities for businesses, young people, and women. The governor is recognized as one of Africa’s most forward-thinking sub-national leaders, drawing international attention for his governance model and wider national influence.
As Chairman of the PGF, Uzodimma has provided steady leadership, fostering collaboration among APC governors and promoting policies aimed at strengthening democratic governance and economic development across Nigeria. Additionally, as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, he has expanded the administration’s grassroots advocacy movement across Nigeria and the Diaspora.
Mr. Joseph Adebola, Chairman of Renewed Hope Global, stated that Uzodimma’s recognition reflects years of purposeful leadership. Under his stewardship, Imo has become a secure destination where investment meets opportunity, with significant improvements in road infrastructure, security, and governance positioning the state as one of Nigeria’s most attractive investment frontiers.
The event was attended by British Lords, Members of Parliament, international political leaders, diplomats, business executives, and members of Renewed Hope UK. Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Political Affairs, and Prince Ade Omole, a Renewed Hope Global advocate, were among those present. Omole, who was the Director of the 2023 APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) Diaspora Directorate, commented that Uzodimma’s recognition elevates his standing as a leading figure in purposeful and progressive leadership across Africa.
