Addis ababa: Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, has arrived in Addis Ababa to attend the 30th African First Ladies’ Assembly.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, this information was contained in a statement by Mrs. Kwapchi Bata-Hamman, Special Assistant to the President on Media and ICT in the Office of the Vice President’s Wife, released on Thursday in Abuja. Bata-Hamman stated that Shettima would be representing the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, at the three-day summit.
Shettima was accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who is set to attend the 39th African Union Heads of State session on behalf of President Bola Tinubu. The African First Ladies’ summit aims to advance the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) strategic priorities and address key internal issues.
The summit, opening on February 15, is themed ‘Building Resilience for Women and Girls: Climate, Conflict and Sustainable Futures.’ During the event, the wife of the vice president is expected to engage in meetings and discussions with other African First Ladies.
The assembly will serve as a platform to strengthen collaboration on women’s empowerment and sustainable development initiatives across the continent. Participants will share strategies to tackle climate challenges, conflicts, and resilience-building for women and girls in Africa. Her participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to continental cooperation and the advancement of women and girls.
