Port harcourt: Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, declared that neither he nor his supporters could be pushed out or swayed from backing President Bola Tinubu’s reelection bid for a second term in Rivers. This declaration was made during his ‘thank you’ visit to the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike reminisced about the steadfast support he and the people of Rivers provided to Tinubu in 2023, emphasizing their commitment against numerous challenges. He criticized those attempting to claim credit now that the benefits are apparent, despite not supporting Tinubu during the initial stages of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Wike urged his followers to remain undeterred by detractors and to stay united in their efforts to support Tinubu’s reelection. He reassured them of Rivers’ key role in the Renewed Hope Family, emphasizing the state’s reliable support for the President.
The visit aimed to express gratitude for the support shown in 2023 and to encourage continued collaboration, with Wike promising improvements in 2026 over 2025. Mayor of Port Harcourt, Sir Allwell Ihunda, praised Tinubu for fostering democratically elected council chairmen in Rivers and acknowledged Wike’s impactful governance.
Furthermore, Mrs. Blessing Amadi, representing Port II Federal Constituency, applauded Wike for empowering women by appointing them as vice chairmen in all the state’s Local Government Areas. Mr. Smart Adoki, representing Port Harcourt II in the State Assembly, also expressed gratitude to Wike for his strategic support of Tinubu in 2023, noting the current benefits enjoyed by the people of Rivers.
