Post: Wike Assures FCT Residents of Comprehensive Infrastructure Development Under Tinubu

Abuja: The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has pledged that every district within the nation’s capital will experience the impact of President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing infrastructure development program. This assurance was given during the inauguration of the 3.4-kilometre Collector Road CO1 and Collector Road CO2 in Mabushi District.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike emphasized that the infrastructure projects align with President Tinubu’s directive to ensure balanced development throughout the territory, including both the city center and satellite towns. He highlighted the transformation of Karu, questioning its traditional classification as a satellite town due to recent developments under the Tinubu administration. The construction of the Karu road network was completed and is ready for inauguration, significantly altering the area’s status.

Wike also underscored the importance of the newly constructed interchange linking Jahi and Gwarinpa districts, describing it as a milestone in the development of districts across the city. He noted that Gwarinpa is larger than many estates in the sub-region, making the interchange a crucial infrastructure piece. The minister pointed out that poor infrastructure previously hindered Abuja’s real estate sector but mentioned the visible boom in new housing developments along newly paved corridors.

Criticising past officials who neglected infrastructure development, particularly towards the high-brow Maitama district, Wike praised President Tinubu for enabling these projects. He attributed the rapid construction pace to the President’s logistical support and political resolve, asserting that subordinates have no choice but to fulfill directives with such a leader in charge.

During the road inauguration, President Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, lauded Wike for his leadership in executing projects to make Abuja inclusive for all. The President acknowledged Wike’s dedication and refusal to accept excuses, which have driven the transformation of the FCT under the current administration.

FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, commended Tinubu’s visionary leadership and Wike’s relentless pursuit of excellence, describing him as a ‘master builder’ transforming blueprints into progress and development.

Earlier, Mr. Richard Dauda, acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, provided details on the project’s location and its benefits. Awarded in February 2025, the project is situated in Phase II of the Federal Capital City, surrounded by districts like Katampe, Wuye, Wuse II, and Kado. Dauda explained that the completion of Collector Roads CO1 and CO2 has opened the area for investment, reduced travel time, and enhanced security in the Mabushi District, creating opportunities for citizens.
